An enormously important step in my career as a translator specialising in video games. I accompanied the entire production cycle that covered a period of 9 weeks – from the briefing through the localisation to the quality assurance at the company headquarters in Tokyo.

Post-apocalyptic computer role play game

Proofing of the entire game, including several add-ons (April to July 2008)

During this huge project, I was responsible for coordination of the style and terminology of the texts prepared by four translators – a total of more than 500,000 words, excluding the add-ons. A mammoth task and an invaluable experience that proved immensely beneficial to my professional development.

Arcade ClassiX for Microsoft

Relaunch of a varied selection of classic arcade games for Xbox 360 entitled Arcade ClassiX (January to October 2010)

As the lead translator and proofreader, I worked in tandem with a colleague to ensure consistent terminology and style. I had witnessed the development of video gaming from beginning to end: from the Pong console through the first arcade machines in pubs with Donkey Kong to the C64 and Amiga 500 classics with Mario Bros., Gianna Sisters and Test Drive. That's why the project was in good hands with me.

Translating press releases, websites and product brochures allowed me to gain in-depth knowledge of the production and installation of artificial turf.
